08/09/2002 Entry: "Review > Fujiya Japanese Restaurant"

Fujiya Japanese Restaurant
Level 1, 605 George St (entrance on Goulburn St), Sydney

I've only been here once before and so far I haven't been disappointed... much! This time around was a little low on the service end, but the food did make up for some minor mistakes on the order and our meals being brought out quite late. I ordered chirashi sushi (which can be hit-and-miss depending on the restaurant) and shared a hiyayakko tofu (which somehow transformed into agedashi tofu, but that was our fault). It was all really good and fresh, but our food being served in a wacky order made it harder to really socialise over dinner...

I ordered mizu manju for dessert, which didn't disappoint either. For the uninitiated: it's a cake of red bean jelly with fruit pieces in it, sitting in a neat puddle of green tea cream. Far more interesting than the usual ice cream you could just get at Passionflower, anyway. :)
